Cam and Mac's first day of school

Today Cam started first grade and Mac started Pre-k. It was so hard for me to have Cam go back today. I was sick leaving him. I got so used to having him with me all the time. He and Mac and I have had such a great summer together. We didn't really spend much time apart. We had an awesome routine that included a little reading and school work, but mostly playing and hanging out by the pool. I'm really excited for him and I know he is going to learn so much this year, but I hate it when someone else has more time with him than me. He is in the same class as his best friend, so he is excited about that. He had a good day today. I was a little discouraged because after his first day of Kindergarten he was all smiles and so excited. I think this year is a little more school and a little less fun. He was so exhausted when he got in the car today. He doesn't get a snack this year, so he was hungry and tired. I think it will take a few days for his system to adjust. He looked so handsome in his uniform. It was pretty hard telling him goodbye. He wouldn't look at me. He had his head turned really far to the side. When I gave him a kiss he looked at me and had tears in his eyes. It was just about enough to get the best of me. He is just such a sweet, kind hearted little boy. He is so good to all of his family and friends. I know he is going to have an awesome year. He is reading so well and is so eager to learn.

Mac just went for an hour today and I stayed with her. She was beautiful. I have been so proud of her lately with how well she is doing talking to people and being brave. She talks so loud now when people ask her something. She is excited about school and loves her teacher. She knows quite a few of the little girls in her class. I am so glad that she will be in the same school as Cam this year. While I was there, his class lined up outside the window of her play room and they both just lit up. It makes me feel so good that they can see each other and give each other some comfort while they are away from home. I am nervous about Monday, her first day on her own. I know she will do great. She just seems so little to go off on her own. I am going to be so lonely without her. She is my little buddy and is so fun to be with. Her best friend Olivia is in her class again this year. They are so cute together and seem to make each other feel really confident. It is just so hard to believe summer is over and another school year is under way. It seems like they should both still be babies.

Mac is 4!

Mackenzie is having an awesome summer. She is getting so big. She can touch in the shallow end at the pool now, so she goes in without her life jacket and thinks she is pretty cool. She is starting to put her face in the water and is jumping off the side on her own. She is working on writing her name and writing the alphabet. She is also learning to read. She is so smart. She has developed quite a love for clothes. One day we put out all of her tank tops so she could choose which one to wear and she said,"Mommy, I am so lucky." She loves new clothes and choosing what she wants to wear every day. She loves hair bows and jewelry. She like to play with her babies and her barbies. She had a Barbie birthday party with a beautiful Barbie cake. Her party was at the pool. All of her little friends came and swam. Everyone had a great time. I cannot believe that she is 4. It seems like she is such a big girl now. I'm not sure why, but 4 seems so much older than 3.

Cam is 6!!

Cameron turned 6 in May. He is changing so much every day. He is just growing up so fast. He has lost 5 teeth so far. He looks so sweet with all of the holes in his mouth. He loves when the tooth fairy comes. The other day he said, "When will that lady ever bring me a thirty?" He is doing baseball and swim team this summer. He is doing awesome at both. He has become such a good swimmer. He knows how to turn his face to the side to get air. The other day he asked his coach if he could swim the butterfly in the meet and he was able to do it. I am so proud of how he is trying so many new things. He has really worked hard and improved so much at swimming. He is more kind hearted than ever. He is so good to his sister. For her birthday he had her pick out all new hair bows at Jelly Beans. He had them wrap them for him and told Mackenzie she could open them the day before her birthday party so she could wear one to her party. On the morning before her party he got up and ran downstairs to grab the present, then sat outside her door waiting for her to wake up so she could open it. He is so happy and sweet all of the time. He still loves Sonic. He likes to wear his polo shirt that I put a Sonic patch on, but will pretty much wear anything now. He has a best friend from school who he is nuts about. They have a ton in common and play awesome together. They are on the same baseball team and they have gotten together about once a week so far this summer. I hope they end up in the same class next year. We'll keep our fingers crossed. Cam is doing an awesome job reading. We are working on a reading program and he reads about 2 books a day.. He is understanding everything he reads and is taking a comprehension quiz at the end.

Disney World

I guess it took a trip to Disney World to get me to sign back on to my blog. Cam and Mac are amazing. They are doing awesome in school. Cam is reading so well and Mac is also learning to read. They are so happy and sweet. Cam still loves Sonic the Hedgehog, but he doesn't have to have him plastered on his shirt quite as much. He will wear nice clothes without an argument now. We had an awesome time at Disney World. It was so great to be with Kendra, Michael, Ethan and Avery for a whole week. The kids got along so well. They were such troopers. We were on a mission to see and do everything we could. Michael was our group leader and kept us on track. Cam loved the roller coasters and Mac loved everything princess. Mac had her hair and make-up done at Cinderella's castle. She loved it so much. She got a new beautiful Princess Tiana dress that they dressed her in. After she was done we had dinner in the castle with all of the princesses. They would come to the table to talk to her and get her picture taken with them. She was so wide eyed and happy to see them. She gave every one of them a hug before they left. Cam and Ethan had their hair spiked with colored gel. They surprisingly had a great time too. During the parade all of the Disney characters came to Mackenzie and gave her a high five or a hug. Snow White waved at her from her float and said " We have the same color bow!" Mac hasn't stopped talking about her since. She sleeps with her stuffed Snow White doll and wants to wear Snow White underwear. The kids had as much fun swimming and relaxing at the resort as they did at Disney World. They played and swam so hard. They were so tired every night. We would let them fall asleep in their own beds then transfer them all to one king size bed so that Mom and Dad and the rest of us could stay up and play Canasta. The whole trip was so much fun. it was the first time I have been on vacation that I wasn't anxious to get home.
